Instructor Resources
The International Hunter Education Association and our partners are pleased to provide a wide variety of free training aids, lesson plans, teaching tips, and other resources for hunter education instructors.
The IHEA Resource Catalog provides information about IHEA pins, patches, posters, prints, videos, travel programs, membership, and more.
Individual members of the IHEA who are United States residents/citizens are provided with Volunteer Liability Insurance up to $1,000,000 per occurrence. This policy provides protection for a bodily injury or a property damage liability claim arising out of the performance of the registered volunteers' duties. Click the link above for details. (Password Required).
To receive Federal funding, States must provide at least 25 percent of the project costs from a non-Federal source. The non-Federal share can be derived from license fees paid by hunters or by the value of third party in-kind contributions. Many States use the value of donated volunteer instructor hours to provide the match for their hunter education grant, which greatly benefits the state. Click on the link above for details.

This is the classic small booklet written in the 1960s by Dr. Ed Kozicky and John Madson to help introduce young people to the world of hunting. Filled with sound advice, practical knowledge, and a deep sense of outdoor ethics, this PDF may be printed ,or reproduced, and distributed free of charge. Dr. Kozicky was the first Executive Vice-President of the International Hunter Education Association, and he revised this booklet in 2002.
